Animal lovers everywhere have been moved to tears by the heartwarming moment a senior rescue chihuahua finally decided to place her trust in a man.

Fresh is a 10-year-old chihuahua currently up for adoption at Muttville Senior Dog Rescue in San Francisco.She is being fostered by Lisa Arden,a devoted caregiver who has made it her mission to help vulnerable dogs.In April,Arden posted a video on her TikTok account,allthefosterpups,documenting the incredible progress Fresh had made since joining her home.Having once been deeply afraid of Arden’s husband,the tiny dog ultimately found the courage to trust him.

Arden explained in the video’s caption:“At first,Fresh was too frightened of dog dad to even approach him.It took a few days before she felt secure enough to let him come near.Once she observed our other dogs receiving affection from him,curiosity got the better of her,and she finally allowed him to pet her…then,out of nowhere,she was completely on board,returning the love wholeheartedly.”She added,“There’s truly nothing better than witnessing them begin to feel safe.”

The touching footage shows Fresh resting on the couple’s bed,carefully watching Arden’s husband,who lies still and faces her,speaking in a soft voice and avoiding any abrupt movements.Suddenly,she flips onto her back,inviting belly rubs.As he gently complies,he asks,“Are we best friends?”The clip concludes with Fresh scooting closer and giving his nose a quick,grateful lick.
